Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition

Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition

The Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition is a Committee of the NYC Breastfeeding Leadership Council.  The organization is a coalition of organizations, hospitals, health centers, WIC Programs, advocacy organizations and other lactation professionals who work together to raise awareness about breastfeeding; educate about lactation; promote, support and protect breastfeeding and participate in legislative activities associated with breastfeeding. The Coalition is chaired by Lawrence Noble, MD, IBCLC, FAAP, FABM, Neonatologist at Elmhurst Hospital and Theresa Landau, MS, RD, CDN, Morrisania WIC Program Director.

The Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition sponsors an annual conference at Jacobi Hospital in September/October each year.  This conference which features three speakers (e.g. Pediatrician, OB and Lactation Specialist) usually attracts over 200 attendees with diverse lactation backgrounds, including IBCLC’s, CLC’s, RN’s, RD’s, WIC staff, hospital staff, Pediatricians, Family Practitioners, OB’s, doula’s, mid-wives and other lactation professionals and advocates.

In 2013, we organized our first Annual Breastfeeding Night at Yankee Stadium. Our second event in 2014 attracted over 200 breastfeeding  families, peer counselors, and advocates. Our pink shirts were visible from all over the stadium.  Plan to join us in 2015 and every year!

Have you noticed our life-size Breastfeeding Stand-ups at our special events?  They are really cool. We are purchasing a dozen of these beautiful stand-ups to be used throughout the Bronx.   If you work in the Bronx and want to sign up to use one of the Breastfeeding Stand-ups, check out the NYC Breastfeeding Leadership website, Facebook page and Twitter.  We will announce when we will start and include the application and the “borrowing” procedure on our social media outlets.

Let us know if you would like to be placed on our e-mail list and/or if you would like to be part of the Bronx Breastfeeding Coalition. For further information, contact Theresa Landau at theresa.landau@nychhc.org
